They mentioned some server maintenance, and I presume that they're going ahead with planned changes to things like profile pages. So... incompetence? LJ always plays up when they push code changes through, although recently has been notably bad and widespread. There aren't any rumours of DDOS.
I was noticing the no-DDOS-rumors as well. As troubling as the DDOSs are, I feel like standing by LJ during those is, yk, to stand with Russian Democracy.
I can't get on LJ at all, can't import comments from it to here. I've been there since 2003 but I'm ready to abandon it, at least for the forseeable future.
Since then, they've advised that while issues earlier in the month were maintenance etc, they've apparently also had some sort of DDoS/malicious attack. I'd feel more sympathy for them if they were providing the service I wanted in between those issues.
I was playing with going off of this sort of journaling entirely and redirecting my energy between facebook and some very active parenting lists I'm on; but darn it, I like LJ! When it's there.
